Your Base Camp for Motorcycle Tours in the Montafon

the Monika in Gaschurn is a quiet apartment base for bikers. Instead of "that one road" you have the whole region as your touring base: many Alpine passes within a day's ride, drying cabinets for your wet riding gear, a fully equipped kitchen so you set your own pace.

Tours from Gaschurn

The Passes Around the Montafon

The classic Montafon day loop measures around 150 km and takes in several classics at once: over the Arlbergpass to the Flexenpass, on to Zürs and Lech, over the Hochtannbergpass (1,676 m, with its winding west side), through Damüls and over the Faschinajoch back into the Montafon. A loop you ride in one relaxed day — landing back at our place in the evening.

The 150 km loop

Arlberg, Flexen, Hochtannberg, Faschinajoch: four passes in one day, plus the panoramas above Zürs, Lech and Damüls. The classic if it's your first time here.

More passes within a day's ride

The Furkajoch and the Bregenzerwald are just as much within a day's ride as the Paznaun with Galtür — from there you can currently reach the Bielerhöhe. Plenty of material for several days.

The Swiss side

If you want to range further, ride via the Engadin: the Flüela and Ofen passes are within a day's ride from here. Alpine bends, wide high valleys — and back to the quiet valley in the evening.

What Makes the Monika a Base Camp

Drying cabinets & locker

In the sport depot there is a lockable equipment locker and drying cabinets. Overnight they dry not only ski clothing but just as well your wet riding suit, gloves and helmet — by morning everything is ready to go again.

Free parking

Right at the house there is a free parking space for your motorcycle. Short walk from your bike to the door — and quickly back in the saddle in the morning.

Your own kitchen, your own pace

Every apartment has a fully equipped kitchen. You start early, come back late and aren't tied to any restaurant hours. Bread roll service in the morning, a quiet location in the evening — to recover after the tour.

Let's Be Honest

The Silvretta-Hochalpenstraße Is Closed

Let's talk straight: you can't currently ride the famous Silvretta-Hochalpenstraße. The Vorarlberg side from Partenen is closed — from 2027 to 2029 it is being renovated (rockfall and mudslide protection), and reopening isn't planned until summer 2030. That's why we don't promote it as a rideable route. At the moment you can reach the Bielerhöhe only from the Tyrolean side via Galtür in the Paznaun.

For us in Gaschurn that's no drawback — quite the opposite: less through traffic, more peace and quiet in the rear Montafon. You make the Monika your quiet base camp and ride the truly beautiful loops over the other passes.

Frequently Asked Questions — Motorcycle Holidays in the Montafon

Can you currently ride the Silvretta-Hochalpenstraße by motorcycle?

No. The Vorarlberg side of the Silvretta-Hochalpenstraße from Partenen is closed. From 2027 to 2029 it is being renovated (rockfall and mudslide protection), and reopening isn't planned until summer 2030. So it can't currently be ridden — and we honestly don't promote it as a route. At the moment you can reach the Bielerhöhe only from the Tyrolean side via Galtür in the Paznaun. The upside: Gaschurn has become noticeably quieter as a result, without the old through traffic.

Which motorcycle passes are within reach from Gaschurn?

Quite a few. The classic Montafon day loop of around 150 km runs over the Arlbergpass, the Flexenpass, Zürs and Lech, the Hochtannbergpass (1,676 m, winding west side), Damüls and the Faschinajoch back into the valley. Also within a day's ride: the Furkajoch and the Bregenzerwald, the Paznaun with Galtür (Bielerhöhe from the Tyrolean side) and the Swiss side via the Engadin with the Flüela and Ofen passes.

Is there a drying room for motorcycle gear at the Monika?

Yes. Our sport depot has a lockable equipment locker and drying cabinets. They dry not only ski clothing but just as well your wet riding suit, gloves and helmet overnight. There is also a free parking space right at the house.
